Eurocopter EC130
Eurocopter EC130
The Eurocopter EC130 helicopter first flew in 1999 and was introduced in 2001. It was developed from the AS350 Single Squirrel with a larger cabin able to accommodate up to six passengers. It has an unusual configuration with the wider cabin allowing space for two passengers alongside the pilot in the front of the helicopter, with four passengers in line to the rear.
The EC130 is a highly capable single engine helicopter with a useful load of 1,050 kgs and powered by a Turbomeca Arriel 2B1 turboshaft producing a whopping 847 shp. It has a maximum speed of 155 knots and cruise of 130 knots. For a single engine helicopter the EC130 has exceptional performance characteristics able to lift large payloads across reasonable range.
Being a single engine helicopter, its cost of operation versus ability to transport a good number of passengers have made it a cost effective aircraft for helicopter tour and helicopter charter companies.
Used EC130 helicopters are for sale from $1.1m for an early example with later models listed at over $2.5m.
