The Eurocopter EC155 was conceived to compete with the S76 medium lift helicopter. Introduced in 1999 the EC155 was developed from the Dauphin family of helicopters and is employed in VIP Corporate helicopter missions as well as offshore and medevac tasks.

Five passenger configurations are currently available on the EC155. There is a 12 seat utility configuration, a corporate VIP configuration with eight seats, a medevac or air ambulance set up allowing for two stretchers, medical equipment and up to four medics. In addition there are offshore operation and Police Surveillance configurations. With so many options this helicopter is able to operate across numerous missions.

Fast cruise speed is 143 knots and maximum range is 427 nautical miles. The EC155 is powered by 2 Turbomeca Arriel 2C2 engines each producing 943 shp on take off.

Amongst corporate VIP passengers, the large cabin and excellent baggage hold volume has proven very popular especially those aircraft fitted with quiet cabin technology and limousine class between crew compartment and passenger compartment.
