Dassault Falcon 2000
Dassault Falcon 2000
The Dassault Falcon 2000 aircraft remains one of their most widely produced aircraft to date. Its first flight was in 1993 with certification of the original Falcon 2000 business jet completed in 1994. Sporting a large cabin with seating configuration for up to 10 passengers this aircraft provides superb luxury and relative range at reasonable cost in comparison with other aircraft in its class. Recognisable with only two engines as opposed to its sister aircraft, the Falcon 900 with three engines, the Falcon 2000 is perfect for transporting 8 to 10 passengers in comfort on flights of around 5 hours.
Powered by two CFE738-1-1B engines the Falcon 2000 will cruise at 417 knots across a range of 3,000 nautical miles. For luggage there is a separate hold that will accommodate 134 cubic feet weighing 1,600 lbs. The Falcon 2000 was designed in its entirety using 3D CAD techniques and represented a first for Dassault who had previously relied on physical models.
Avionics on the F2000 are provided by the tried and tested Collins Pro Line 4 series.
Upgraded variants of the Falcon 2000 include:
Falcon 2000EX – upgraded engines to the Pratt and Whitney PW308C turbofans producing 7,000lbs thrust each. Range increase to 3,850 nautical miles
Falcon 2000EX EASy – Advanced avionics, pressurisation and oxygen systems.
Falcon 2000 DX – Using the same engines as the EX. Range is 3,250 nautical miles.
Falcon 2000 LX – significant range improvement to 4,000 nautical miles and the addition of blended winglets.
Falcon 2000 S – Significant improvement in runway performance.
Falcon 2000 LXS – Combining the range capability of the LX with the runway performance of the S.
The Falcon 2000 is a superb aircraft for 6, 8 or 10 passengers to travel in a relaxed manner on flights of 5-7 hours depending on the variant.
New Falcon 2000 LX aircraft are on the market at $34m though earlier Falcon 2000 classic aircraft can be seen in the used market at c. $6m.
