Beechjet 400
Beechjet 400
The Beechjet 400 started out life as a Mitsubishi corporate aircraft design, with Beechcraft buying the production rights and hence the Beechjet 400 tag. It is a small cabin aircraft with capacity for eight passengers. A number of Beechjet 400 aircraft were built as military trainers for the tanker/transport function of the US airforce and the Japanese airforce.
An upgraded version of the original 400 came in the form of the 400A with longer range, increased take off weight and improved cabin fittings. Over 590 400A aircraft were delivered through to the end of 2009. When Raytheon purchased the Hawker from BAe in 1993 the Beechjet 400 series was rebranded the Hawker 400 in order to fit into the existing Hawker product line. An upgrade was planned to the Hawker 450XP though given the economic downturn in 2008 these plans were scrapped.
For the most part Beech/Hawker 400 aircraft were fitted with Pratt and Whitney engines though Nextant aerospace have developed a version of the Beechjet 400A fitted with William FJ44 engines, new avionics and superior cain installation. Known as the Nextant 400XT this aircraft was certified in October 2011.
The Beech 400A has a maximum speed of 468 knots with cruise at 443 knots. Range is just under 1,700 nautical miles the Beechjet can operate at up to 45,000ft.
Used Beech 400A aircraft can be seen in the market from $500k for an early aircraft with low TBO.
