Cessna Citation V
Cessna Citation V
The Cessna Citation V is essentially upgraded and stretched version of the Citation II. The Citation V has very similar external profile to the II though its cabin is 20 inches longer. This aircraft first flew in 1987 with certification granted in 1988. Production moved to the Citation Ultra in 1994 and by this time 262 Citation V aircraft had been built. Standard passenger configuration was for eight passengers, 427 knots cruise and range is 1,920 nautical miles.
The Cessna Citation V went on to be branded the Citation Ultra announced in September 1993. The Ultra had upgraded Pratt and Whitney JT15D5D engines and Primus 1000 EFIS avionics. Citation Ultra had a slightly faster cruise when compared to the V and slightly improved range.
In 1998 the Citation Ultra became the Citation Encore with further engine upgrades allowing faster climb up to cruise altitude and increase cruise speeds at altitude. Its service ceiling is 45,000 ft. In addition cabin upgrades allowed for greater passenger headroom and improved climate control systems. The Citation Encore has increased maximum take off weight allowing capacity for five passengers with full fuel tanks. This additional take off weight does however add around 500ft of take off distance required over the Ultra.
Used Citation V’s are available on the market at $700k+ with the latest version Citation Encore + aircraft commanding c. $2.5m.
