Learjet 60

Learjet 60

The Learjet 60 is one of the largest jets in the Learjet stable, currently produced by Bombardier Aerospace. Learjet 60 was rolled out as an improvement to the preceding Learjet 55. The Learjet 60 first flew in 1990 with production spanning a 21 year phase to 2012. Over 400 Learjet 60’s have now been delivered.

Powered by two Pratt and Whitney 305A engines producing 4,600 lbs thrust per engine. This powers the Learjet 60 to 41,000ft in an incredible 18.5 minutes. It has a stretched fuselage when compared to the Learjet 55 and additional body fairing to improve the handling characteristics of this aircraft.

Range of the Learjet 60 is 2,409 nautucal miles at a cruise speed of 420 knots.

In 2005 Bombardier announced the Learjet 60XR with deliveries beginning in 2007. The XR has several improvements over the earlier models including enhanced cabin facilities, Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite and upgraded brakes to slow the aircraft on landing. The Learjet 60 has always had a high approach and thus landing speed, and this is has led to some handling issues in the past.

New Lear 60XR list at around $13m with used Learjet 60 aircraft available from $2m.
