The Turbo Commander 690/1000 are turboprop variants of the Commander series with the 690 being the first turboprop variant. This aircraft has superb performance, able to operate from small airstrips with 4,174 lbs useful load and climbing at 2,850 feet per minute. It has a pressurised cabin, will cruise at 285 knots with a range of 1,500 nautical miles. This aircraft compares very favourably with the Beech King Air.

Later upgraded versions of the Turbo Commander were known as the Jetprop Commander with engines upgraded to 1,000hp and crusing at 300 knots at 75 gallons fuel burn per hour. The Commader 1,000 has excellent range for a turboprop at between 1,700 and 2,050 nautical miles depending on load. This aircraft has seating capacity for up to 9 passengers.

Acquisition cost of a Jetprop Commander 1,000 is around $1m. Both turboprop versions of the Commander provide excellent capability at good value for money.
