Based on the hugely successful Boeing 737, the BBJ is the corporate aircraft division of Boeing that produces VVIP cabin aircraft with low density seating configuration, boardrooms, bedrooms and dedicated washrooms. The BBJ is a 50% partnership between Boeing and General Electric and the BBJ offering runs across the 737, 747, 777 and 787 product range.

The original BBJ was introduced in 1999 as the BBJ. BBJ1 was built on the 737-700 airframe and included many changes over its airline counterpart including blended winglets, self contained air-stairs negating the need for truck based steps or air bridge facilities, additional fuel tanks in place of the hold and ETOPS certification to enable flight over wide oceanic expanse.

Several variants of the BBJ emerged following the success of BBJ1. The first BBJ emerged from the production line in 1999. Aircraft are produced at Boeing’s facility in Renton. From here they are flown to Georgetown Delaware for installation of additional fuel tanks. From Georgetown they fly to client specific completion centres for cabin install and exterior paint.

Powered by CFM56-7 turbofans the BBJ will cruise at Mach 0.80 and operate up to a service ceiling of 41,000ft. Range with
